François Grillot - bassist, composer
Originally from Burgundy, France, François Grillot has been based in NYC since 1980.
François has studied bass with greats like Mickey Bass, Harvie S and Linda Mcnight, went to City College of NYC to study harmony and jazz structures, and has accomplished numbers of musical projects since.
He currently leads his own ensemble, Contraband, and has released the 1st recording under his name.

Contraband is my most recent band with Catherine Sikora, Anders Nilsson, Roy Campbell, Daniel Levin and Jay Rosen. Our first release of Contraband had just been released; it was recorded at the Hell's Kitchen Jazz Festival last spring on 56Kitchen Records.
